Day 71 Sat 0512 - Dismantling and Packing my Bike at the Hotel Lobby

Finding a bike box at the end of a long tour has always been a headache for most tourers.In Da Nang so far I have not seen one decent bike shop yet,what I had seen shops mostly with some ready made basic bikes hanging or displaying together with some other merchants,not really a genuine bike shop.I am sure there are if you really take the trouble to search from the Internet or walk more streets  with the hope to find one.Knowing that troublesome too well,hence I have carried along with me a bike bag from the beginning of the tour,to save the trouble of finding bike box at the end of the tour.
Advantages of carrying a bike bag : 1. No hassle to find box at end of tour
                                                          2. No problem to load into taxi or bus
                                                          3. Can ride direct to airport and pack
                                                          4. Can use it for groundsheet,or pillow during camping

Removed the rear tire,fender,derailleur and disengaged the rear suspension

Removed the front tire,the boom,and turn the fort 180 degree with the help from the hotel owner

Wrapped and secured with packing tape

Put in the 2 rims and rack together into the bike bag - Merry X'mas

Shortest ride recorded today of riding just 8.3km in 39 min after having secured a hotel for 2 nights costing 300k,and another 100k for a taxi to airport.Now my ride had finally ended in Da Nang,70 days on the road with a total distance of 4041km from Chengdu excluding taking bus from Panzihua-Kunming-Hekou due to 30 days China visa expiry.After a good nap,I went out walking to the city center in the afternoon,near the Han River to enjoy the evening night view of all the bridges where decorated lights are lighted up at 6.30pm.Amazing view...just wonderful!! No regret for planning to make Da Nang my final destination.Once I met a lady in Prao,she is from Da Nang,"What's Da Nang famous for?"I asked,to what I know it was a former US Navy Base. Without thinking hard she replied " The bridge!! when the multicoloured lights are on". So remember not to miss it if you are planning a trip to Da Nang.

Vietnamese fishing unique method : Using a cut 500ml plastic bottle tied to a fishing line,with a little bit of water mixed with wheat flour as bait,stirr with a spoon and throw into the river, the fish will get caught in the bottle trying to eat the bait,absolutely no hook

Today's ride to Da Nang City besides sightseeing also to check out the Airport location,and the best hotel for my final 2 days accommodation. Leaving my 4 Ortlieb panniers at the Ngu Hanh Son guesthouse,I only carried the rear rack saddle bag,so it was so much lighter now.Riding along the beach road all the way up to Son Tra Peninsular to visit the Giant Kuan Ying Temple located on the hill top overlooking to the Bay of Da Nang.Weather is perfect sunny and my impression on Da Nang is a CLEAN city with sandy white beaches and beautiful bridges across the Han River.Back to Ngu Hanh Son guesthouse by 4pm.Tomorrow will continue to explore more on Da Nang with another hotel in the city.
