Early start at 7am from one end of the town to the other end is a long straight wide road,stopping at one of the pho shop for breakfast,the pho must be very good cos' i saw many customers,what made the noodle tasty is the dried fish meat instead of the normal beef meat. And it was really good at 30k dong,so far the price of Pho bo is very consistant at 30k dong about 6 ringgit. After breakfast came the uphill climb lasted 14km then downhill all the way to phong Tho junction and that marks the end of QL4D road,now turning left on QL12, a smaller road winding along with the big river. Nothing much interesting on this very dusty,lack of maintenence road with lots of potholes and falling rocks on the road surface.Passing thru' Pa So and Pa Tan where i only bought 2 chicken sausages (20k dong) and a can of coke (10k) as my lunch. Certainly this won't be enough as i had to bring out my stove again to cook instant noodles 2 hours later.The thought of staying in Chan Nua did not materialise as i did not see the town when the km stone show only 1 km.With darkness setting in fast at 5.30pm, i spotted a nice hidden grassland to set up my tent,no water source but i have 2 litres of water is more than enough for the night. The highlight for today's ride was meeting 4 Thai tourers riding opposite direction to Lai Chau and Sapa. We chatted and exchanged informations. Happy to know that the road to Tay Trang border crossing to Laos is in excellent condition.
